In the past we have banked with ANZ and they are very good. We also have some friends who buy and sell properties like there's no tomorrow, they sing the praises of ANZ like there's no other.
I would imagine that nowadays all the banks will be competing for business so they'll all be offering some good deals.
We have also held an account with the Kiwi Bank for some time now, however, this has just been used as somewhere to stash some funds in NZ and establish abit of financial history in the country. I don't think we'll be using them as our main bank when we arrive.

We took out one account to start with with the ANZ but subsequent accounts for the business with Westpac. (that might say something) they are the only two we have had experience of but we did approach a building society, the S.B.S. that we were very impressed with mortgage wise but didn't have time to sort it out before completing, have every intention of transferring said mortgage when house in UK sells and we reorganise our finances.

The Kiwi Bank ?
It's the one on the right half way down Marton high street as you enter from the west.
Only joking. As far as I can make out, they are the bank associated with the post office.

No experience as yet, but it may worth checking out which (if any) your current UK bank has an agreement with in NZ. In our case Barclays has an agreement with Westpac, so we'd definately look at them to see if they offer any favourable transfers etc. Obviously will also compare with another, probably ANZ.

Forgot to mention. The National Bak in NZ has the same 'Black Horse logo' as Lloyds but they will swear blind they have no connection.

We are with the National Bank and find them very efficient, friendly and accommodating.
The Black Horse logo is being dropped in a couple of years time so as to break any past links with Lloyds.
Seems we are the only ones here banking with National.. :uhoh can't think why, we can't fault them :nice1
