Hi there,

Just to say a quick hi to the forum properly instead of hijacking someone else's thread as before - apologies to Red for that.

Myself, my wife Juliet (jools) and our 20 month old son Toby are hoping to head out to NZ (prob Wellington) later this year if i can get an ongoing job offer sorted. This forum is a mine of information and has been a great help in the planning process so many thanks for all the info!

Hi Ian, Jools and Toby

A little *wave* from just down the road in MK. We're also thinking of Wellington for our move (going over to have a proper look in a couple of weeks). Wishing you well for your 'journey' :)

Hi guys,

Welcome to the forum. I note you've already found out what a useful resource it is. However, if you can't find the info you're looking for (by using the search facility) then feel free to ask away with any questions you may have.

Hi there and http://www.freesmileys.org/emo/signs060.gif (http://www.freesmileys.org)

As you say, this is a top source of information, but if you can't find what you're looking for, just ask.

I must have missed something, where abouts are you from?

Also, we are a bit nosy here, what line of business are you in? We are happy to help and point you in the right direction if need be...

Hopefully, we'll hear from you soon and that just leaves me to say http://www.freesmileys.org/emo/signs003.gif (http://www.freesmileys.org)

Thanks all for a warm welcome,

We are based in Lincolnshire, UK and i am in IT (software development). I have had plenty of interest in my skills but getting a job offer from an employer who is willing to wait three months or so is proving difficult so any hints or pointers on getting past this hurdle would be greatly appreciated.

thanks again,

Ian

Hi Ian, Juliet and Toby

Welcome! We're off to Welly in June (and even as I type it it doesn't seem real - someone pinch me).

Good luck to you, and to Kim and Gareth too. Please report back...

Just wanted to add my welcome too. Interesting point about employers not wanting to wait three months. Don't their current employees have to work three months notice, making three months an ideal amount of time?

Hello and welcome!

Just wanted to say be patient with the job offer thing - Kev got a verbal job offer when we did our reccy trip Jan06 and it took quite a few months for the actual paperwork to follow - but it did eventually!!! Think its the kiwi laid back attitude which is great when you get here but not so great when you are getting frustrated trying to sort it that end!

Good luck!

Thanks again,

We'll try to be patient! I'm sure it will all fall into place soon. On the three month issue the message i got was that local candidates were on a one month - six week notice period. However it could just be agency-speak. I think if you are in the country there may be a different attitude...
