Please don’t answer round or star shaped etc, I am coming at this from an IT Account management sales role. In order to prepare and hopefully secure said position for which there appears a number of vacancies both in Wellington and Auckland at a good rate of pay. I am wondering how the market looks i.e. key players and products in order that I can be prepared for interviews and do any preparation work in UK.

Let me elaborate and give suggestion of what I think am looking for i.e. (totally made up shape) of business and products.......................

1, Auckland Corporate accounts, strong market for outsourcing, key players IBM, (pushing Web Sphere) Microsoft, Unisys outsourcing

2, Wellington government based business, interest in outsourcing, CRM applications from Oracle accounts systems from SAP

3, Christchurch, web development

Anything known would be very useful, thanks!

SteveO,

at that level mate, you should be looking at the NZ census looking at imports\exports, IBM etc homesite to see where their biggest export markets were etc.

No offence Steve, but if you are after a position like that the research side should be childs play. If i can help you in any way i will, PM me.

NZ's IT market is very strong with many innovative companies developing some very good products, including possibly the most effective anti-spam product in the international market.

You will find most of the key international players with a good base in NZ, including IBM, Oracle, SAP, HP, Citrix etc.

IMO the "major" vendors (HP, IBM, Sun etc) aren't huge here compared to most countries, much of the IT market is taken by ISV/SI/reseller type organisations, some of them pretty large like Gen-i/Fujitsu/Unisys although there plenty of smaller ones too (Axon/Datacom/Infinity etc).
