With regards to the immigration medicals could some please tell me what test they are conducting for the Blood and Urine samples or what they are looking for? I have not found alot of information on this and was hoping someone could answer this question.

this is a link to the health form that the doctor has to complete with details of all the tests. it includes HIV, hepB and syphilis but there are others too - plus additional blood tests if you are overweight.

Thanks for the reply. I am completing that form so I have seen that specific information. I was just looking for a little clarification on the panels of tests that they administer. Thanks for sending the link though. I can understand the blood test needing to test for the diseases, but in regards to the urinalysis are they testing for diabetes or something? I hate physicals.

I know they look for blood in the urine to see if you have kidney problems, but I'm not sure what else they test it for.

Yeah, they test the urine with the same little plastic stick that they use when you're pregnant to test if there's sugar - i.e. for diabetes. When our blood tests came back, there was a great list of different chemicals and minerals that had been tested for including iron and lots more obscure ones. I was under the recommended amount for 2, but when I phoned up to clarify, they just said it doesn't really matter and they are really inaccurate anyway. They are mainly testing for the communicable diseases already mentioned. I was dreading the medical, but it wasn't that bad (although I am v healthy). There was only one needle, although he used more than one little bottle to collect the blood. It didn't hurt much.
