JUST A FINAL TIP BEFORE I GO,,,I CALLED THE INLAND REVENUE AND TOLD THEM I AM GOING TO NZ AND AS THEY CALCULATE YOUR PAYE ON YOUR YEARLY EARNINGS. IF YOU GO IN THE MIDDLE OF THE TAX YEAR YOU HAVE PAID TOO MUCH TAX.I HAVE GOT NEARLY £1200 COMING BACK AND THEY CAN PAY IT INTO AN NZ BANK ACCOUNT,,,NICE PHONE CAL THAT WAS

I pulled the same coup when I moved to Canada, 800 quid I got for fileing my tax return before end of tax year. Under self employment CIS 4. It does prove very difficult to re-align your tax if you return back to the UK before tax year ends like I did. It does'nt take much to confuse a member of inland revenue.

BTW: 700 million a year is written off due to being unable to locate tax dodgers,

also if you wish to claim back overpaid tax you can only go back 1 year. If the IR wish to claim back underpaid tax they can go back seven.

So get evrey penny you can back,

Self employed (as me) means you pay your tax in arrears.......dont tell them you are going or you could get a bigger tax bill to bring you up to date!!!! :eek
