Hello everyone

My name is Anna and my partner, Richard and I are planning to make the big move to NZ in August. I have been snooping through this website for a long time but I couldnt post before because my free webmail account was unnacceptable :( But we're in now and I'd like to start by thanking everyone who's posts have unwittingly helped me already. Without this site we would probably still be staring blankly at the NZIS website waiting for our brains to implode. As it is we're about to submit my PR-partnership policy application (richard is the kiwi :) ) and I'm starting to get seriously terrified about the prospect of leaving my life behind - but hey , what's life without a bit of adventure!

We're Christchurch bound and currently wading through the job of researching shipping companies and shipping insurers so i might need to pick a few brains about that. Also, having made it this far through the process we have picked up a few (small) pearls of wisdom along the way and I hope I will be able to return the favour and help some other people going through this process.

Good Luck to everyone, and thanks again.
Anna

Hi Anna, you're in the same boat as us - I'm the Kiwi and my OH is the Brit applying through the partnership stream.

We took the application and supporting evidence into London last Tuesday and today OH got a letter and pack including guides and a DVD - the only annoying thing is the letter says the wait is 10 weeks for a case officer, and when we were at NZ House they said six weeks for a case officer...

Oh well, what's four weeks when it's the rest of our lives?

Best of luck

Amy

Hi Amy,

Thanks for your reply. The processing time for partnership is set as 10 wks for allocation to case officer on the NZIS website too, although hopefully they say that as an absolute maximum possible and it will be more like the 6wks they told you in person. I know another couple who went through this process just before christmas and their application took around 2 months from start to finish so hopefully it will be the same for both of us :) We will be submitting our application next week so I'll be watching out for your progress closely.

Good Luck
Anna

Hi Anna+Richard; and Amy.

Hello-and all the best to you in your applications.:)

We've applied via the partnership route for my wife Sue as I'm the Kiwi.
For info-I submitted the application on the 21 Nov; this was acknowledged
on the 24 Nov when I was told there will be an 8 week wait 'till a case officer is allocated; then the 2 to 4 month process time...........
The ball is rolling-house on the market; Sue has resigned(she is a headteacher and had to give two terms notice)we aim to head out Sept/Oct time.
We've heard nothing from NZIS since but I'll keep you posted-I'd be interested to hear your progress also.

All the best.;)

Hi Anna,

I'm new too, and am also in the same position as you, i.e. applying for residency through the partnership route. I'm glad to find someone else in the same boat - I'm terrified and excited all at the same time.

Good luck with it all.

That's wonderful news! Just under three-and-a-half months?

I can only hope we're that quick since it could see us with a decision by the end of May.

It's going to be really tricky judging any timings as I have to serve three months' notice at work.

But I'm so pleased for you guys!
