Just thought I'd let you know that I've seen UK mother's day cards in Whitcoulls in Browns bay. They didn't have loads but I assume that their other branches would hold stock as well. This might be quite common, but since this is my first UK Mother's day in NZ I was just glad to find a card to send to the UK.

I kept meaning to check when it was, 18th March.... just hope I remember to get the cards posted in time, I had to use blank ones last year, and just write a message in them, but will go check out Whitcoulls this year...

When I went home at Christmas I made my mum a mothers day card and left it there, in her dressing table drawer, to be opened on the right day.

Forward thinking? No .... just covering my ass cos I know I've a memory like a sieve and would forget to send her one from this end.

If I told you I left a pile of birthday cards and pressies - covering the next 6 months - for distribution would it make you think I'm really odd?

Not odd at all - brilliant! I used to send Mum and Dad cards on UK Mum and Dad's day (a good reminder for Dad to ring my Nan in the UK lol) and then they'd bring them out again the next year on the NZ date (NZ days being earlier than UK days - it worked well and we got twice the value from the cards!)

It was impossible to find a Mother's Day card in May over here!

My mum writes all her birthday cards for the year just after Christmas - in case anything happens to her - would you really want to get a birthday card from someone beyond the grave.

Just as a warning for those who have just moved out - Mothering Sunday (UK Mothers Day - This Year March 18th) is not the same date as the international Mothers Day

Nope - went around every card shop and they dont have any until May when its mothers day here, maybe in the larger citys they may but down here they didnt.

I got 2 small poem books - Mother ones, and sent them instead. $18 it cost to send them:roll as I had to send them Parcel - not normal post!

I am going to stock up for next year when they go on sale in May:laugh

I got a care package from my mum - she sent me my Wool 'Tescos' coat that I bought last year and it got left behind....It arrived Friday morning and I wore it to work....Oh it felt so good, it was so comforting to wear it - but the guys at work thought I looked a bit too Corporate for Park Operations:laugh
