Any advice please ??

We are moving over in April and it has been suggested to bring our dcotors notes with us (me especially as i have breast cancer in the family, also having had a scare myself and am entitled to mammograms from 40 onwards by the genetic team).

I contacted our doctors and they want to charge us something ridicolous unless we pay a small fee and have a 'breakdown' so to speak

Any ideas ??

Sharon, a little bird tells me that it is best to wait until you arrive and register with a doctor. The NZ doctor then contacts your old doctor and there is apparently a tiny charge, if any, to provide YOUR notes. It is your information, not the doctors. Hope this helps, I expect someone in NZ will clarify matters for you more....

The most they are entitled to charge you under the data protection act is GBP50.

Yup, that's what happened with us Stevie, and no fee from the docs here either altho that could vary from practice to practice. Relevant docs were faxed over initially and then posted on (altho slightly annoyed they didn't do it registered post or sign for).

Perhaps we were lucky but our docs just ran us our copies off no problems no fees either?!

Must vary from practice to practice - also the docs here haven't asked to see them?! But then again we have only been once when Emerson had toncillitus.
