Hi, me again!

Flights are booked but just got to get travel insuracne sorted.

Any advice ??

We will (hopefully) be on work visas and our little one on student visa. Should we just do insurance for a short period of time ?? or think we should do for the 1 year our visa runs for ??

Thanks!
How long do you reckon we should do it for ?? I have had a look on Atlas insuracne and they have deals for up to 60 days, should i cover the initial month (covering the trip moreso) and get health insurance out there ??

we just did it for the length of the holiday plus a extra day either side but you can talk to them about your needs etc

We used them too for many years of Multitrip insurance. When we migrated (with PR) last March I called them to ask what they would cover. I was then advised that their cover would only be until we 'landed in NZ' - basically until we took up our residency. Our luggage was covered all the way, as were we whilst en-route, but that was it.

Suggest you give them a call too (they are by far the cheapest company to buy from in the UK - www.insureandgo.co.uk) and explain what you're after. Maybe you're able to take a year visa too, but I seem to remember that there's a maximum number of days per trip (30?) so that wouldn't suit you. Have found them really friendly, so see what they say.
Best of luck with your plans!

This can be a problem as most insurers only cover you if you are resident in the UK (read the small print). Often the personal belongings cover is inadequate too , especially iof you are bringing a laptop and good camera

We used http://www.go-walkabout.co.uk/ as they have a special Emigrating package .

You can get an online quote too.

If you have any particular or unusual circumstances, be very sure to check that your travel insurance still covers them. I was with American Express for years, but on renewal one year I asked them if they covered a cancelled trip in the event that the Queen wanted to send either my wife or I somewhere hot and dangerous. Turns out they didn't, and nor did most of the other companies I rang. In the end I went with a company that deals specifically with service personnel. They were a good deal cheaper too.

Are you talking about contents or Health? On the health side, pls note that you may not be covered for NZ health care are your WP is for a year..pls check. Also our private Health provider in NZ said they would only cover us if we had a two year WP visa. Any travel insurance you take out only covers you for Travel and the time you are on holiday, once you enter NZ it becomes invalid. Same will insurance taken out in UK. CHECK VERY CAREFULY

We just insured for the first month until we got our rental property & then, of course, you take out contents insurance when you're renting.
