Is it true that if PR is granted without a job offer, the primary applicant could take on any career they want in NZ for which they are qualified (even though they got EOI points for long term skills shortage list of a certain career?)

So, 18A would not apply to the above scenario, correct?

I'm asking because I am just not sure I want to teach in NZ. I've done it for 11 years in the US and I'm tired! I may end up having to teach if I get a job offer to speed up PR, but I'll cross that bridge if and when it comes.

It just feels like it's time to do something different!!
Any other career-switchers out there? :exit

OH was the main applicant for our PR as a Chartered Building Surveyor. It was granted in Nov 2005. To date he has not applied for any roles as a Chertered Building Surveyor...:D

It just feels good to know that I'm not trapped!! (unless we decide a job offer is the only way to get PR this year~!!!)

I have loved teaching at times, and I currently love it sometimes, but mainly, another point against the US is that the education system is going to hell in a handbasket!!

I hope to have a job I can "leave" at the office. I aim to find just that!
