Hi Jan,

Sorry can't help with Gisborne as we're still in bonny Scotland but just wanted to say a big welcome to the forum.

Thanks for the welcome.
Dh is an anaesthetist , we should hear soon about a kob offer.
I am quite terrified about moving over as I have never been there , but I'm sure I'll be fine :-)

Hello,
We live in Christchurch, but our original plan was to move to Gisborne. It is stunningly beautiful. The town is centered around a long main street and surrounding blocks of commerce. It has a large Maori and Pacific population. Tons of gorgeous agriculture: oranges, grapes, avacados... and the ocean is pacific blue...unreal.
I visited one of the schools. Very friends. In these remote, warm areas...it is not unusual to see young kids hop off to school bare-footed. (Not the older students, just the little ones) Gisborne was exceptionally friends, even on our brief visits (2). DO a search on the forum, because over the 3 years since we started reading there have been a number of people who have moved there.

Hello
Well we have been here in Gisborne since Sep 06 and I have to say it's fantastic. Everyone has been so friendly and helpful.
Our 5 year old started school in Feb and loves it, Our 3 year has gone back to pre-school thay both went to before Christmas and he also loves it.
Yes they both run around with no shoes on. After school and a snake it's of to the beach. I have to pinch myself now and again we are so lucky to be here.
Russ is enjoying his work to.
Absolutely no regrets apart from should have moved here years ago. The price of house has gone up 26% in the last year here is Gisborne.....

Best of luck to you.
