Hi,

Well my OH has done good - he's coming back from NZ on Thursday with job offer in hand and looks like we'll be heading to Gisborne. Can anyone offer any advice/info on Gisborne as a place to live with two little children - anything on primary schools would be fantastic - also rental market/prices? Looks like the weather is sunny there and good beaches etc. Look forward to your views.

Congratulations to your OH on getting a job offer - it'll be all systems go for you now I guess.

I can't give you any info regarding schools etc on Gisbourne, but I can tell you it's a really lovely part of the country. I'm pretty sure it's the first place in the world to see the sunrise too - but PB always tells me that's not entirely correct 'cos there's some island further east that is the first ..... does it matter?

I'm sure you'll find it a great place to be, all the best for the move.

Thanks Diny - what a whirlwind this lark is eh?! I'm in a bit of a headless chicken mode at the moment but after a good celebration tonight (actually, maybe I should wait for him to get back on Thursday - only fair, but then again....hmmm) I shall start trying to get my head round what to do first. It would help if we had ANY interest in the house whatsoever - a familiar story round here I gather!

:cheers

Sadly Helga - a far too familiar story. There's so many of us in the same boat it's in danger of sinking !!

I'm saying that the market will pick up at the end of January. I have no official word on this and certainly now qualified authority to make such a bold statement - but it makes me feel a whole lot better to say it.

Congratulations!
What kind of work is taking you to Gisborne? You will love it there - a real pretty little town. Pm if you have specific questions - I'll do my best to help.
Congrats!

The housing market is indeed a nightmare - we had our house valued earlier this summer for £30,000 more than it's now on the market at and teh agents were all soooo confident - three months later and it was a totally different story. We're just about to change agents in the hope that we might reach a wider audience but I think generally this is considered the worst possible month to be selling so I'm really hoping you're right Diny and January will be a lot better - after all, would we all go house hunting a few weeks before Xmas if we didn't really HAVE to - it's easy to forget what life was like before we started this rollercoaster eh?!!!

Thanks Junnifer for your message - OH will be a manager for a construction/engineering type company over there. He's coming back Tomorrow so I shall find out all about it then!! Glad toh ear positive things about Gisborne.

Sorry to hear about the housing market over there - I hope something will happen soon!
I went to Gisborne twice last year - Oct/Nov. My husband was busy with work, so I went to scout it out. I loved it. TOok a ton of pics.
Congrats again.
