My boyfriend and I had an offer accepted on a house when we were in NZ at Christmas, and today the contract became unconditional. So, in two weeks, I will be joint owner of a little bit of NZ.

I am so excited, and not a little bit scared....

Pics? Ok, let's see if I can do this....

We almost didn't go to see this house - the estate agent really wasn't keen about it, but she took us there as we were in the area. When we got there, she said "Most people are really surprised at how big it is inside." I took one look at it and thought, "Yeah, right" then when she opened the door I said, "Oh my God, it's so big!" (You have to bear in mind I do currently live in a tiny 1 bed flat in central London!)

It is 100 years old, and was moved from the centre of Whitianga to the top of the hill about 4 years ago.

It is so lovely inside, but, sadly, I don't have any pics of the inside, so you'll have to take my word for that. From the outside it looks a bit like a shed.... But when we looked round it the second time I could really see myself living there, and I'm so glad I know where I'll be living when I* make the move.

* I say "I" rather than "we" because for me it is a leap into the big unknown, whereas for my boyfriend it is going home. But, I think this house will feel like home for me.

Even nearer now - have transferred all the cash to NZ, and have had the NZ mortgage approved. Hurrah!

Thanks, Julie. I'm hoping I'll be v happy there. I love the view, and you can see the sea from inside the house as well, which is a bonus. I already have grand plans for decks... And maybe moving that corrugated iron monstrosity that's blocking the view. Apparently, it's a holiday home, so I figure I could just move it a few centimetres every month or so and the owners wouldn't notice!

Well done Jo Jo. I know the house, at least from the outside. For those that dont know the town, trust me, the views are SPECTACULAR.

Whitianga's a small place!

Well, the house is ours now - it became unconditional on Wednesday.

Anyone want to rent it for 6 months????
