Hi All.
Well, I've not been feeling too well lately, not ill exactly, but just a bit 'off'
Anyway, I've also had a couple of what I thought were infected mosquito bites, but apparently I was mistaken.
According to the doctor they are White Tail Spider Bites !!..........
So I hot-tailed it to the phone and rang the Spider Man.
To spray the inside AND the outside of the house with his Special, Definitely Not Organic (You Don't Suffer with Asthma Do You?) Kills Anything That Flies,Crawls or Moves Stuff he's charging me $180.
Now, it's guaranteed to work for a minimum of 3 months, but normally lasts for 12, so to spray a 5 bed, 3 storey (no - please don't ask me to post a picture !) house I don't think that's a bad price - unless of course, you know different ??

Julie, first of all don't be fooled by the mask. Underneath that is a normal, middle class person and I can reveal his actual name is Peter Parker (in case you're wondering I've seen a film about this thing).
My suggestion would be to threaten to reveal his identity to the press (my understanding is that he will not like this) and, when he's at this most vulnerable state, say this (please use these exact words, I guarantee they will work):
"OK, here's the deal, I won't reveal your identity if you agree to spray inside and outside of the house for free. What do you say Spidey?".
Hold your ground and there's no way he'll not take up the offer.
** Actually I realise this won't help in the slightest with the question you asked, but I read somewhere that humour helps when you're not feeling your best and knowing you're feeling a bit "off" I thought I'd try to make you feel a bit better! :nice1 **

Zardell, just wanted to encourage you to go for it, but it sounds like you are already there!:D
Spiders just creep me out, the only ones I'll tolerate in the house are Daddy-Long-Legs, as they eat ants and pests and don't bite people. Those White-tails really sound like a pain, sorry about the bites.

We paid $120 for inside and out from a local firm in Kaiapoi. They charge lower rates for local but I think the normal rate was about $160. Guarenteed for 12 months.
Just out of interest, for those that have been sprayed - do you still get flies?

Yup - ours was sprayed inside and out too - but flies do still come in, and then they have to deal with the Robocans! Fort Moorf! :D

Hi Julie
Hope this doesn't mean you'll be spraying wonder web from your wrists and climbing walls (well apart from the usual - lost socks, stripping down motorbikes in the lounge, I've needed a shelf in the kitchen for three years - girlie way) :laugh :laugh

:laugh :laugh you should think of a change of career Steve!! As usual, you found the right words to make many of us laugh!!
Julie - hope you feel better soon! Sounds like you've not been having a great time! Only thing I can add - try not to scratch the bites, as only if the bites become infected they can become a more serious health problem (unless you have an allergy).

Cheers Babette.
You're right - I ended up having to go back to the doctors because I have developed a bad allergic reaction, but I've got my meds and am feeling a lot better now.

I was wondering about that, but didn't want to scare you ;) My brother was bitten about a year ago, on his knee. With 'dirty fingernails' (boys :uhoh ) he scratched and scratched. Ended up badly infected, very high temperatures and on a drip in hospital with a VERY badly swollen knee.
We had a 'bug lady' give us talk in the library over the holidays, she specialised in spiders. She told us that in NZ there are no dangerous spiders, though they all (can) bite. She said it was purely people's allergies and later infections brought on by scratching etc that causes problems. She also brought a live Avondale spider (HUGE thing :exit ) with her and allowed all kids (and parents if they wanted) to let it walk on them - very proud of my girls - NO WAY for me I'm afraid!
Hope you feel better soon.

OMG !!! I just read this thread - how vile, I think the idea of being bitten by a spid would just send me (further) over the edge.
There's very few things in this world that worry me but I have to say that spiders - of any size - head the list.
Hope the spray helps !!

Just to let you know Jules that one spider bite takes approx 5 weeks to go through your system, so you won't be feeling too good for a while. My friend Neil-yes, you know who i am on about. Well he was bitten about 4 weeks ago, not one bite but 7-10  and the quack has told him he will feel like this for around 6-9 months. The only way you can make this poison go quickly through the body is to keep busy...............SO GO GET A JOB!!!!!!!! :laugh
