I noticed that most of the posts here are from IT people. I can't really relate to their experiences or situations because my field is agriculture. I am interested in working in NZ's agricultural sector but I don't have NZ experience which seems to be required by most employers. Also, the only agri-related work in the POL is dairy/farm manager, which I studied in college but I have no actual experience because my work is mostly research. Does anyone have an idea how difficult it is to get a job in agriculture? Just in case I decide to go to NZ without a job offer, I would like to have an idea what are my chances. :uhoh

Check out the companies that belong to the Canterbury Nutraceuticals (http://www.nutraceuticals.org.nz/) and BioSouth (http://www.biosouth.co.nz) clusters. Both deal with biotechnology and agricultural research, and you get bonus points for landing a job with one of the member companies. Each website has links to the member companies, which might help you target your job search.
If you haven't already, also check out the site for the New Zealand Institute of Agricultural Science (http://www.agscience.org.nz). You might find another organization more specific to your research area at the Royal Society of NZ's member directory (http://www.rsnz.govt.nz/directory/member_societies.php). Good luck!
