Hi All!
Would just like to formally introduce myself, so hello everyone! :) Would also like to thank everyone on the forum on their great advice too. As for the 'about me' bit, I'm a single mother of a rascal of a seven-year-old-boy, Malaysian, and have been working in the magazine industry for the past six years (very stressful industry!). Will be arriving in Chch on Feb 26th for a job recce so any tips or advice are more than welcomed!

If anyone would like to meet up for some coffee, that'd be great. PM me! Would love to hear how you all managed, horror stories will be relished! ;)

First of all, good luck with all of your plans.

However, I can't really help you out with Christchurch, as when the OH & I visited, we were only there for a few days. There is a forum meet planned though (see here (http://www.emigratenz.org/forum/showthread.php?t=10075)), so your visit may coincide. Although, you might wish to try the official NZ tourism (http://www.newzealand.com) website for some hints and tips and they'll be some i-sites around too and http://www.christchurch.org.nz looks pretty good.

Chch has been great so far (yes, i know it's only been two days plus). Am taking it a bit easy at the moment, trying to relax a bit as i still have some stress carried over from preparing to come here!

First day here on Monday was incredibly hot, just like Malaysia! But it's cooled down now so whew!

ok then, bar unforseen circumstances, should be there to meet you all at sumner :)
