Hi,

I am wondering if anyone in the forum have registered with the New Zealand Medical Laboratory Science Board in order to work as a medical laboratory technician/scientist? If not, any other professional boards? I am planning to register and would really appreciate some advice or sharing of experience from those who have gone through the application process. Thanks :D

I have personally contacted them about my degree Bsc (hons) Medical Biochemistry to be use to get job in Medical laboratory lab even i have worked in lab at UK's hospital. Unfortuntely i need to take further qualification:no . With two children and one on the way, i decide to leave it and stay at home with children :laugh
However, i have found them very helpful as i think they are keen to get more staff so they do everything to help you. Have you manage to contact them via their website?
I am aware there is a person work in lab in NZ in this forum..maybe this person can help! forgot name....

Dian,

Jeff's a Pathologist, so he had to go a different route for registration, through the MCNZ.

However, I spoke with one of the people in the Micro Dept at DML (http://www.dml.co.nz/clin_keycontacts_dept.asp?pDept=Microbiology), and he recommended that you check out the website for the Medical Laboratory Science Board (http://www.mlsboard.org.nz/) for information regarding the registration process. If you have questions, the MLSB contact information is on the bottom of this page (http://www.isolution.co.nz/www.mlsboard.org.nz/contact/index.htm), which also has an online question form you can submit.

Hope that helps!

Jo
