Were going to be arriving in Auckland this May with a 14month old! and need to find a place to rest and gather thoughts. Does anyone know of a decent family friendly place to stay?

We always use the BK Pioneer Motor Lodge (do a search on Google for website). It's very clean, modern and friendly. It's an airport motel - just 3 mins from international terminal with a free shuttle. Certainly worth considering if you just want a place to catch your breat before heading off on your main holiday/journey.

Sorry, can't recommend anything 'in town'.

we've booked the Airport Gold Star Motel for our one night stay in April. Looks good for families and free transport to/from hotel.
Fingers crossed ;)

Further afield from the airport, we stayed at the Howick Motor Lodge http://www.howickmotorlodge.co.nz/ run by Mandy and Dave who arrived here from Doncaster 11 years ago. They are lovely people and so friendly and helpful, we couldn't believe it. |They ahve children and when we stayed there, there were lots of families there too.

I suggested this location after our very pleasant stay almost a year ago (!) and since quite a number of us from this forum have stayed there - all with glowing reports. Think they have started to give 'us' special treatment :) Staying here would also mean you'd be near a large number of us on hand to help you settle in. Send me a PM if you need anything.
