Hi there!
I do believe I introduced myself long ago, but I need to again. :) My name is Nicole and I'm an wife, mother, and teacher from the USA looking at emigrating to NZ in June/July 2008. My husband has been posting here as upnorthkyosa.

We just made the committment to visit NZ in August this year. Since our seasons are opposite and school is out then, we're kind of stuck with our timing. We're used to temps waaaaaay below freezing in the winter so the 40s-60s will feel like summer anyway. :p Our trip is a combination of looking that the more major cities (more likeliness of finding jobs) and some good old fashioned fun. We spent some time at the brew pub last night making plans. It would take us a good 6 weeks to do what we want to do, but we only have two. Sigh.

Anyways, I'm going to be popping around the board more, trying to get to know you all. I look forward to it! Cheers!

Welcome Nicole. My name is Natalie. My family are looking at similar timescales for emigration as yourselves - maybe a little sooner. We have had EOI selected 31 Jan. We are in the process of finishing off our house renovations and then hope to sell up and release some equity to fund a trip to NZ. My Husband is an Electrician and I teach fitness/sport to adults and children. We have two boys aged 10 and 8. We are hoping to visit NZ towards the Autumn of this year and figure that if we visit in the colder months we will see NZ at it's less pleasant time of year and hopefully still not be put off. I look forward to keeping in touch with your progress and wish you and your family every success.

Hi Nicole, glad to see you posting. We are the archtypical anima and animus. I'm good at my missions and she's good at talking to people!

Welcome aboard! I know the feeling. I am a tad more north up here in Canada(just north of the tree line...kidding). Hope all your plans go well. Best Regards,

Hi, welcome to the best place for information and support!

I, too, am a teacher from the US. I am knee deep in the process. Our ITA gets sent out next week. We plan to move to NZ in mid-September this year. I'm thinking a few months to goof off in NZ before their school term starts in Feb. will be great.

Please feel free to email me questions, as I am currently going through the tortures applying....:D

Thanks for the welcome! I need to make a point to visit here often. I should have known it would be a great place with so many like-minded people!

Christine~ I will definitely be in touch with you about your application process since you'll be ahead of us on it. What do you teach?

Ana~ our winter has severly sucked here. We have hardly any snow, but we've been nailed with cold. Up until this morning, I could see my lawn. We're supposed to get some good snow tonight, but the really good stuff is south, down in Madison, where my mom and other family live. I just got off the phone with her and they are definitely snowed in. She can barely see her neighbors across the street. We just have wind right off Lake Superior right now. Yuck!
