We are already here in NZ & submitted our FBI checks over 2 months ago & have heard absolutely nothing back. I've tried to do a search as I know it's been talked about before but came up with nothing. Can anyone tell us the phone number or the e-mail address of who we are supposed to contact to find out if they're ever going to get back to us. We have to lodge our ITA before 23rd march & the FBI checks are the only things holding us up. I know we can submit it & they will hold it until we have everything but it would be nice to have something from the FBI. Thanks in advance

Did you write on the letter and envelope what date you needed it by? Also did you let them know in your letter/ form of request for an FBI check that it was needed for Immigration purposes. I read on their website that by doing this it will speed up the process.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Suzanne.

We just sent ours on Tuesday, so I still have the paperwork handy! Try these #s:
304-625-3878
304-625-5590
Here's the address again just in case:
Federal Bureau of Investigation
Criminal Justice Information Service Section
Attn: Records Request
1000 Custer Hollow Road
Clarksburg, WV 26306
Good luck with everything!
Ana
PS it says 40 to 50 business days during heavy demand time if you didn't write a rush on the envelope, hope that helps.

Thank you guys, we didn't put a date on but did say they were time sensitive for immigration purposes. So I guess we will try & give them a call. Thanks Ana & Steve for the numbers. Maybe if our last name was Laden we would have heard from them by now.:laugh :exit

We sent our prints in several weeks ago and got them back in a few days. We needed a duplicate of one...for NZTC and for ITA. They failed to stamp the duplicate (!!) so we sent it back. And have heard nothing since.
What happened.... USA started requiring passports to go to anywhere and started allowing free passes to pre-screened people at airports. So FBI has to be swamped.

Well guys, we tried calling the FBI without much luck so eventually found an e-mail address & sent off an e-mail 2 days ago. This is the reply we received this morning, I'm not computer savvy enough to paste it on here so will just write out what was said.................
Dear Mr & Mrs ...............
Due to the volume of work we are receiving, we can no longer confirm receipt of record requests until the requestor's information is entered into our database. Your information has not been entered into our database at this moment but we are continually updating the database. We are no longer honoring requests for expidited processing unless it is strictly a matter of life or death. Please feel free to check back periodically.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me.
Sincerely
..................
So I guess I'll just have to learn to be patient:wah :wah Just hope our case officer at NZIS is very understanding:roll

Thanks for posting that information. Some friends of mine got their reply from the FBI in 3 weeks, but that was in 2004. But, since you have been waiting for 2 months, I guess I won't start worrying about my request yet. The FBI got mine on Jan 16th and I have not heard anything from them yet. At least the UK sends you a letter telling you that they got your request.
By the way, according to the FBI website, "Allow approximately 16-18 weeks for processing, upon receipt to the FBI." That's 4 months!
