We are coming out shortly on visitors visas for 6 months and have read that you need to prove at Customs that you can support yourselves whilst in NZ. On the govenment website it lists different options, ie credit card statements, etc. ($1,000 dollars per month, per person) but my question is has anyone used their NZ bank statement showing monies transferred over as proof that you can support yourselves whilst out in NZ?

News to me! We didn't have to show any proof when we arrived on visitor's visas for 6 months - and we've done it twice. Doesn't hurt to have something to show though, I'm sure a bank statement would be fine.

Wouldn't hurt to put a credit card statement in your hand luggage although I don't know of anyone who has had to show that sort of proof.

Maybe if you turned up at immigration with a bin bag of clothes, 3 weeks of breakfast down your jumper and carrying a collection tin they might want to see something!
