Mainly of interest to those who are considering this type of visa. We have completed the provisional 9 months of our LTBV and have proved to the NZIS that we have done so to a satisfactory level. So we now have a new visa giving us 2yrs and 3 months to show the businesses can be successful, then onto the entrepeneurs visa. This is a bit of a relief as we have been spending out for the last 9 months and just hoping we were doing it right and were not going to be kicked out come the end of Nov.

That's really good news Veronica - must be a weight off your mind. Good luck for the next 2 years. If you're doing it right now it must look good for the future. :nice1

You guys are so passionate about your work and projects that we never thought for a second that you'd be booted out :nice1
At least I've still got somewhere to hire ski equipment from next season.. I am going back to ski's as my bad ankle injury from s/boarding is really hampering my confidence... perhaps you could recommend a good teacher.. I'm v. rusty on ski's. :?

Well done Veronica.
We have some friends here in the UK who looked into settling in NZ under the LTBV scheme but chickened out the instant they read all the conditions.
Knowing that you've made your way through the first stage is proof that you're doing something right :nice1
Keep up the good work and all the best.

Yes, well done Veronica,
I don't know how stressful it's been for you - you always come across on the forum as very calm and clear thinking and not the sort of person to easily be stressed. The LTBV must be a pain though because of the fact that PR takes so long to get - and the possibility that if your business isn't going too well, you lose the business AND your place in New Zealand.
Thinking about it, it seems a bit strange that you can come on SMC, get a job, get PR and regardless of how bad you are at the job - you could be sacked after a few months as a total incompetent - you would not lose your PR. Yet the business route is judged by much more rigorous standards where you could be out following three years of hard work and commitment to NZ.
I'm really pleased things are going well for you and you've cleared another hurdle.
Wishing you every success
:cheers

thanks everybody, it wasn't quite so stressful until the sale of the house in the UK fell through due to the chain collapsing end of Oct. about a week before we were due to exchange.

Great news Veronica, well done. I`am sure you will not have a problem now that you have a foot in the door so to speak.
If you would like to pm me the business ady, I will not hesitate to suggest yours as the best backpackers/ski shop in the area ( I know I have`nt been there, but i get the feeling I`am right).
Have a couple of aquaintences coming out that way for some "snow mania" in Jan. so will point them in your direction.
