Wow, that is what I call a busy day! The shippers came, saw the state of the place and were all doom and gloom. This evening, it is nearly done (well, a huge chunk has been done), just some dismantling and a bit more stuff to sort out from the loft, and it will be gone tomorrow afternoon/evening. They were fantastic, and it is obviously the lack of personal attachment that allows them to get on with the job in hand instead of reminiscing about this and that :laugh:laugh

So, just a bit closer. A warning to anyone who have the shippers coming in the future - prepare early!! And don't be hoarders like us :laugh

Right I'm off, I have the mother of all headaches and I need to finish loading the software/internet stuff on our laptop, plus have a rest.

Cheers for now.

Steve.

Well we did tell ya:laugh We were wondering how things were panning out for you last night. The real realisation will be tomorrow when that artic arrives and throws that lump of metal on the back of the skeletal trailer. Once that happens a big sigh of releif can take place bud.

I remember that feeling Stevie. Glad your shippers came good in the end. Hope you have a good kip! I completely second what you say about being prepared. That was our mistake - we did nothing until the shippers arrived and we should have been chucking stuff out weeks or even months earlier. Still, most of our stuff got here in the end (but that's another story...).

Keep us posted!

Hi everyone! Well, it's gone. We have just watched our worldly goods (or the most of them we could get in the box) wend their way down the lane, kids waving and all sorts of people looking out the doors and windows. I didn't know how cold it actually was until I stood by the container, it was really bitter. I had been out in the back all day, jet washing stuff and running myself ragged making sure all the outdoors stuff went o.k. - didn't even notice the cold then. So when we watched the truck draw away, we were tinged with elation, then sadness, what a rollercoaster this emigration business really is. We will post a bit more later when we catch our breath. Just starting to feel hungry now, not even noticed that we hadn't eaten all day.

Bye for now.

Steve, Jan and kids xx

Come on Steve sleeping on the job, whats that all about:laugh Oh that artic disappearing in the distance brings back memories, and it ain't memories of our container, but memories of a decent industry back home, not like the antiquated one out here.

Anyway bud we'll see ya this side very, very soon.

Let you in to a secret, I was only resting my eyes!! ;)

I think that last photograph really got to Jan and looking at it now it gets to me too, just looking at Kieran watching it drive away brings a lump to my throat. I know we have a hugely exciting time to come, but we do have a lot of hassle to still finish off business and things here. But it is all part of the process and we knew it would come. Just one last push......

Thanks for your wishes and interest. As we are now working off the laptop without a webcam - purely because windows vista doesn't seem to have that many drivers written for it. Anyone out there know any different? So msn video is out of the question for the time being....

Off to bedski now.... Steve

Thanks guys! Got terribly windy in the house coz my eyes are watering LOL

This forum really is the best, you people pull us through stuff that is so difficult to bear at times. There have been rows, tears, huffs, despair, exhaustion, despondency - but when you sit in your empty (ish) house, and really think about your path ahead, and why you set out on the path, you realise what a huge resource, and dare I say it, counselling service, this forum really is. A thank you to you all who are following our little journey from the bottom of our hearts (I put hands - you see what stress does!! :laugh)

So we have to finalise all the odds and ends now, and be off next Friday. We just want it to be over now, all the hassle, to say our "see ya laters" and get our new life under way.

Cheers for now, off to Wetherspoons for a few pints :)
