I have just been informed by NZIS in South Africa that my application has been referred to London due to medical reasons.
I'm not an ill person, but I do have some medical issues. I have GERD and reflux (both controlled by medication), plus I don't have a spleen due to a motorcycle accident.
I'm told that the referral to LDN is normal, what are the chances that my medical issues could keep me from getting to NZ. my medical costs is about $40.00 per month.
Do they look purely at what the cost would be or is there a rule that says if you have several problems you get denied irrespective of what they are?
I really don't know what to expect at this point so will appreciate any advice that you may have.
Regards
Pieter

Hi there
All the applications I know of are through the London office. I wasnt aware there was any other way of doing it! Have you received an ITA yet?

This is for my Work permit application, I'm still waiting for ITA but need to start working in april, so I applied for a work permit while waiting for the ITA.
In South Africa we submit the application for work permit to the NZ high commission. they now have to forward it to LDN.
All I can do now is hope and Pray for a quick resolution as my Tickets are booked for the 4th of April and the movers are coming to pack my container on the 26th. I have to be out of the house by the end of the month.

Hi again Pieter
I am also from South Africa and I am doing my whole application through London. I was never given an option of doing it in SA at all so I assume there is nothing to worry about having been referred to London. We do not have job offers yet (we decided to get PR while still here and then only sell up etc etc)
Im sure you have nothing to worry about at all.

I wish I could have done my application before selling up, unfortunately I didn't have enough points without the job offer and my employer didn't want to give me anything i writing until I had sold my House.
I guess they wanted to be sure i was serious. Now I'm stuck without a house having given up everything I have with a possibility that I may be delayed by a few months.
I just pray they get back to me with an approval before the end of the month.
thanks for the encouragement.
Till later

Not exactly the same boat as you, but I am applying for residency and my ITA was also referred to the medical board due to my wife being a diabetic. I am also due to start work at the end of the month and have flights booked etc. Fingers crossed for the pair of us! Good Luck.

Pieter, contact your employer and ask for advice. I've been instructed by my prospective employer not to submit my application for the talent visa through the Pretoria office, but to send it directly to NZ to a specific person. The HR dept of my employer will then follow up with them on that side.
Good luck with the medical problems. I'm going within the next 2 weeks. I'm overweight but have no other medical problems. I went for a quick pre-medical with one of the panel doctors, which sort of helped to put my mind at ease. Let's hope the bloodwork is in order ....
