Welcome to a chch hot day..cant go out cos you get swept away!

How often is it that windy?
I've heard Wellington is the really windy city?
Still looks better than a windy Birmingham street scene though.
Thanks

I am of the personal feeling that all of NZ is windy, just some places more than others. We went down to Sth. Brighton beach and had lunch and walked the dogs. it was certainly blowy and as usual in that situation it was fine walking south along the beach, and the sticks I threw for the dogs went really far with the wind behind me but going back nth to the car was different, could have done with me ski goggles on, and as for me stick throwing, well they were acting like boomerangs! still I always enjoy walking on the beach and it was warm. When we got home the new sheets that I had washed for the hostel and left on the line were more than dry but not one was left on the line so it was a case of gathering in the washing! I think the Nor'westerlies can be compared to the sirrocco or mistral winds that happen other places. Haven't checked the forecast but it all seems still at the moment and I can't see a cloud in the sky.

Hi Nicki
Don't have a picture to show you, but will try to describe the scenery here this morning:
Bright clear morning, driving through the Cheshire countryside, wonderful ( ) smell of local cow population, slightly misty/foggy over the surrounding fields, beautiful hazy sun in the sky ....... get the picture
but, one BIG difference to Chch ......
it was about 2 degrees, and before being able to drive my car I had to scrape the ice of the windscreen
It really was a beautifull day here too, just a different season. I'm really cold tonight though, typing with a big 'throw' around me.

Yes, that yellow ball with no heat in the sky in winter makes me think how lucky we are that yes, we have frosts, but then the days are about 15. never seen a 15 deg day in Maidstone in Dec!!!
(dont even go there about our nights though...cold no central heating...ice inside the windows..brrrrh! )
Veronica I saw you on the beach too....the pier cam snapped your pic...did you see it!

I tell you what, I would have been impressed by the range of the camera if it had been me as we always go down to South Brighton bit, but yes we do usually end up carrying a bag!!!
