I also posted this in another section but wanted to ask here too if that's okay. My sister and her husband are also considering emmigrating to NZ and as she has no internet at work she asked if I could ask this for her. Her husband is a Tower Controller and she is a Air Traffic Service Assistant. Does anyone know if the airport company in NZ hire people while in their own countries and how do the points work for them (they don't seem to be on the absolute shortage list and her job isn't specified at all). Sorry if this makes no sense but hopefully a controller out there will know what I'm on about.

I don't suppose that they'd say on their website: http://www.airways.co.nz/careers/careers.asp

But it might be worth contacting them and seeing if you get a response. I don't know if they have a shortage here, but I'm sure there would be retraining involved since the procedures and laws here will be different. ATC is quite different here from the US, anyways, in my experience.

Airways also does some international consulting, so having controllers with international experience may be of more interest to the consulting side of the business.

Sorry, not sure if any of that was actually helpful.

Thanks Chris - I'll check out the link as soon as I can - I'm sure it will help a lot. We're in South Africa and I think the air traffic control is fairly similar everywhere (except the US) but I'm sure there would be some retraining - even moving from airport to airport in SA you have to do retraining for that specific post. Thanks again!

Hi E&C

My wife works at Airways head office over here. She has a good relationship with the folks in HR so can pass on CVs or get info for you. PM me and we can talk some more.

Thanks Brad (only checked this answer now - didn't realise I'd received another response!). I have no idea how to PM? Does that stand for private message?
