Dear All
Just wondering which is the best way to go about applying for the children to obtain residency in New Zealand. Do I apply now whilst I am still in the UK or wait until I reach New Zealand??
I have printed off the visitors visa form for them, not sure what to do?
Any help would be most appreciated :nice1
Regards

Is i am right that you are australian by birth but live in UK with UK wife? and two children born in UK?
Then children will need to fill in residency form at same as time as your wife's. We done our both children's residency same time with our applications.
More informations on your application background would be help, i agree with trigirl :yes

Hi
I am Australian by birth, my hubby is from the uk along with kids, sorry didn't quite know how to explain question. I was just wondering whether I could wait until I got over to NZ before applying for residency? Getting the kids in on a visitors visa, topping up with a student visa if residency route took some time to come through. Hubby is applying for entry through his occupation as a GP.
Thanks for your time

Hi Nashlee
When you had your kids did you register them as Australian citizens?
You can do it any time up to the age of 18 and it only takes one Australian parent to gain citizenship.
If your kids are Australian citizens they can work or be educated in NZ without any permits.
Here's the application form: http://www.immi.gov.au/allforms/pdf/118.pdf
It would be MUCH easier to do it this way that apply for NZ student visas etc for them.
From the NZIS site: People who do not need a student visa or permit
You don’t need a visa or permit if you are a citizen of New Zealand or Australia, you hold a New Zealand residence permit, or you are an Australian resident with a current permanent residence visa or a current resident return visa.

Are you in the UK? If so you can send the application form to the Australian High Commission in London or Edinburgh. It should cost $110 Aus for the first child and $85 for any other children on the same application.
That would be much cheaper than paying international student fees in NZ Good luck

If u think that your children need residency, try ask the case officer if they can give the residency in an immidiate attention situation to speed up the process. The reason I am telling you this, because we had the same situation where we need our daugther to get a residency, as she was born in US. We applied on August 2006 here in Auckland. NZ hence her visitor visa is expiring on early april. Up until today, no case officer what so ever.
