Hi Wayne
I'm sure people a lot more qualified than I will answer your query but I'm afraid the answer is yes. Orewa is one of the places we're looking at and I don't want to work south of the North Shore. Hamilton is approx 70mls south of Auckland city itself. If you go to the NZ AA site they have a map (sorry, can't remember where the link is) and it gives you distances from place to place. Although not extensive it's very handy to give you an idea.
Cheers

don't believe it, daft as it sounds miles (or kilometres) are longer here. It takes a lot longer to drive 50 k here than it does at home, the roads are generally single lane and the top speed is 100kph. I have no idea of the actual distance but I know that people who live on the north of Auckland try and work on the same side of the city and those on the south try and not go north. I've been told it can take 2 hours to get from one of the southern suburbs into the city sometimes so assume the northern side is the same, and thats without the distance then from Auckland to Orewa. So if you want that job/want to live in orewa I would think you may have to choose. Someone from Auckland please give a more local knowledge answer cos I have a feeling its not as simple as wayne thinks.

Wayne. I suggest you send forum member Gran a PM as I know that she lives in Orewa.
From what I gather from another source it is a lovely spot but with few facilitys. Good if you like to swim though.
Good luck :cheers
