Hi folks,

I'm Martin and me, my wife and my 5-year old son are planning to move out to NZ sometime this year, hopefully around July/August time. The timescale is somewhat dependant on the immigration process.

I'm an IT Project Manager and have been encouraged by reports that my skills are in demand in NZ. My wife is a PA in the publishing industry, but she's fairly adaptable so is hopeful of finding work once we get out there.

We've submitted an EOI and were excited when it got selected almost immediately. However, it has since got returned to the Pool for reasons explained in another post. Currently I'm job-hunting and am planning to take a trip out to Auckland in April to try and line up a job, which should then smooth the immigration process.

We've lived in NZ before, albeit briefly. We spent three months in Wellington in 1999, and fell in love with the country. This time we're aiming for Auckland, mainly for the employment possibilities.

That's it for now, catch you on the forums!

Martin

Hi Martin

Firstly welcome to the forums and good luck with your move. If you are coming out here job hunting can i strongly suggest you spend some time in Welly too (unless you hated it before of course!) There is a lot of demand for IT staff here and being the centre of government no shortage of PA and administrator work either.

Good luck with the job hunt - I work in IT project management, so if you want any contacts let me know.
I'm based in Auckland, but I'm originally from London too.
