Hi,

Got home last night to a Speed Camera Fine & 3 points on my licence  How embarassing!

This is the first time that I've had any points. Does anyone know if this will affect me being able to hire a car/drive in NZ/take my test over there? I can't see anything on LTSA website about having endorsements on your licence (well not the bad kind anyway)... :no

Thanks
Sarah

Not sure,
but i think most people these days have points cos of camera's.
Welcome to the club :nice1
I think only more serious crimes will be an issue, ie license suspended/revoked for Drink/drug driving.

Hi

Welcome to the club!

I don't thint its too important, but I spoke to the police and it is a criminal conviction, and therefore you must disclose it and it will show on your police certificate unless its 'spent' by the time you apply (three years I think). The same occurs if you're applying for a job which needs a disclosure form filling in.

Cheers

If you had a DD offence but it is more than 12 years ago, it does not appear on you license or police letter, do you need to declare it.

If you got a speeding ticket here be prepared to get piles of them in NZ as the limit is 100kmh/61mph and it is enforced far more than here ,you get the impression that speeding is the big no no that will have every cop reaching for his/her ticket book :booby

They are certainly sneakier here than at home, lurking at the side of the road outside of the towns in plain white vans or nondiscript estate cars. but then the drivers coming the other way are quite good at flashing you to let you know. (always provided you pass any cars, the roads arn't always busy!)

Isn't it crazy

The cheapest place in the world that you can get a suburu Imprezza Wrx 0-60 godknows how quick, take roundabouts at 70mph no tyre screeching and you can't drive them.

thats not fair. Now I have to settle for a chug chug people carrier, 0-60 in 3 mins.

Dan,
you could really get into the laid back way of life and chill in a VW camper. :cool
That is one way over never breaking the speed limit.

Welcome to the club Sarah - at any one time I've always got at least 6 points on my licence - the thing that really annoys me is that I'm not a REALLY fast driver - my points always come from cameras in 30 mph zones and I'm going about 36 or something like that. But - there again - I was still speeding so I don't really have a leg to stand on.

One point that I must mention, due to my constant number of speeding points on my licence I was concerned that they would show up on my police certificate. When the certificate arrived there was absolutely no mention at all about speeding offences. I read it and re-read it ..... nothing at all. Unless of course ...... it has a sneaky little section on it -where my points were shown - which was written in code. :booby

Has anybody else had their speeding points shown up on their police cert?

Hi Diny

I phoned Cheshire Police a few months back and they said that speeding offences will appear on any checks they do.

I've not got a police certificate as I'm a little behind you in the application so I can only go off the information from you (and the police). I think it would be nice if speeding isn't considered a criminal offence, otherwise 75% of the adult population must be criminals!!!!!

Phew! I'm so glad I'm not alone - I was really unlucky - not making excuses for getting a ticket as I deserved it if I was over the speed limit  but I genuinely believed it was a 50 zone (I was doing 51 mph) but it was a 40!, so can relate to your experiences Diny - was driving a load of country roads between Herefordshire & Swindon on the weekend where the speed limit changes between 30 and 60 every few minutes! - ironically so I could get back to do a car-boot sale which was subsequently cancelled :(

They are really hot on the old speeding out in NZ - we saw so many Police cars parked in odd places hidden away (under bridges etc.) with their speed guns out trying to catch people out. :booby

The law states that 10% over is allowed and then 3 for discrepency so a 40 is 47 50 is 58, 60 is 69,

when billed always ask to see evidence of the daily caliberation of that camera on that day a legel requirement Without the camera is void

also if you believe that you were doing the correct speed request that your milometer is tested at their expense.

There out in force at the mo, to save up for their xmas parties sorry I mean to ensure ongong road safety.

What happens if you receive a notice of intended prosecution for speeding after you have submitted your Police Certificate ?

And moving on from that what happens when the Summons to appear in court arrives and you've left the country?

Anyone any ideas ?
