Spent last few weekends sorting and packing, and all of yesterday packing and sealing down boxes..... phew what a job!
House like a bomb site, clothes, stuff, god knows what, everywhere! Permanently got blinds closed down stairs, looks like steptoes yard!
Three trips to tip ..... how on earth do we accumulate so much crap ???
Went to Robinsons this morning with our 9 boxes, 1 more to send monday, they have been fantastic!!
Then, its four weeks Monday and we fly!!!
Just got to break news this afternoon to parents in law, havent been able to tell them due to my dad in law being in hospital for last 4 weeks.... dreading it!
Can wait to start our new lives though, its been dream this last few months, and now reality has set in big time last two weeks with sorting out our stuff .... what we pack, what we dont.....!

Sharon, did you say 9 boxes????!!! OMG!! We had at the last check 250+ in the container, and they were squashing the last bits in on Thursday gone.
It is incredibly stressful, but as you say, how do we manage to cram so much junk in our lives. Never again I say.
Good luck. We fly Friday - excited and with a bit of nerves thrown in.

Yes, just the 9 but 1 more to go, not bad for 11 years together eh!
We are travelling via LA so have a good luggage allowance, 2x23kg each, so will be cramming other bits in.
Hope all goes well with your flight, where are you heading too ??

Flying to Auckland, expect to stay in the north island, do not know where we will finally end up, purely down to work situation. Managed to get 4 x 30kgs with Sinagapore Airlines. We'll see where we end up, part of the excitement of it all. Ten boxes - sorry, still doesn't add up to our lot though ;)
All the best Sharon, expect we'll be reading each others posts for the considerable future.

Good Luck
It's that exciting trepadation feeling.. Hope all goes ok with your family, it's especially hard when relatives are unwell.
I agree, 9 boxes is some going, we packed 15 of various sizes (which arrive next week)
Safe journey and see you on the other side.

Sharon you must be so excited! I remember the last few weeks, a feeling of complete unreality at the whole situation. It will fly by, wait and see. Someone asked OH the other day how long he had been in NZ and he replied "a month". I had to remind him he had been here for 2!! :roll

Know what you mean about accumulating junk - by the time we left, our local charity shop was so full of our stuff that I felt more at home there than I did at home, and they were greeting us like old friends each time we pulled up. When it comes to the crunch and you have to decide whether it's worth shipping or not, it's surprising how little stuff is worth keeping. Still kept enough to fill a whole container though.

Did you have to get insurance with a different company Sharon as you did the packing yourself? We want to pack our stuff as well and will have a similar amount to send as you so we would be very intersted in the costs you are facing.

We used Robinsons and had 11 boxes from them which they charge in volume. They charged us about £470 for them and insurance was 3% on top of this. Hope this helps. They were extremely helpful.

Thanks Sharon. I had a quote from CargoBookers for half that price for 8 boxes but uninsured.
