I have recently read one of the threads asking if anyone here knows of anyone who has been denied residence, unfortunately there wasn't much activity on that thread. Probably due to people not feeling comfortable with sharing their bad luck and discouraging others.

Instead I thought it would be encouraging if people on here who had difficulties but overcame them in the end could share their stories of trouble and triumph with the rest of us.

Obviously we don't expect you to go into the finer (more personal ) issues. Just share what you are comfortable with.

I've been hanging round here for a couple of years now, and honestly, I've seen few people who were rejected. I can only remember one person who was in the country and had a change of situation and then had to go. Others who couldn't apply because they didn't have the points. Someone was recently posting about not getting in because of a character issue. Perhaps search for that thread?

Getting in doesn't seem to be the issue as much as making it work once you are there. Lots of people have gone home again (or on to a 3rd country) because NZ didn't work for them (many different reasons).

Just seconding tigerlily. In addition to the EOI miscalculations and character issues that she mentioned, there's also medical issues at the ITA stage. See

You will find both stories of those who sadly were rejected and also failed to get a waiver, and those who were rejected but then successfully got a waiver and are now living in NZ.

Thats exactly why I thought we should have a thread of success stories :) rather than failures:( . One single thread for people to come hear how others ran into difficulties with NZIS and what they did to overcome the problem or satisfy NZIS with the relevant information :nice1 :raebanana
