I just wondered people opinions of Emigration Agents, how many people used them and found them useful or not.

We are looking to use one, to make sure we don't make any mistakes and that there is someone over there to help find housing etc.

But now I have found this website, you all seem to give sooooo much help to everyone, I was not sure if it was worth while.

We have been to see the Emigration Group, any feedback good or bad useful.

Thanks

Jo

If you are going to Christchurch then you should contact Nicky (known as Kiwi on here) first, as i believe she may be able to help you in that area for when you arrive

I also think if you search this site and old forum you will find various stories re agents

Good luck :nice1

Jo,
When we first started thinking of NZ and Canada. We went to a show and met the Emmigration group. They give very positive feedback and were helpful (for a fee).
We took them up on thier offer and paid for a consultiaion session in Chester. The lady we met was informative, not pushy, profesional and didn't try to sell their services too much, which was a releif as i would have walked there and then.
Back then the points system and criteria was a little differernt and we needed help. Now i need a job first so the work has to be done by ourselves. hence no need for the Emmigration Group.
You can do the work yourself, agencies such as the above will make sure that you do it correctly. You may find it worth the money, you may not. its all reletive to you.
Only one bad note to say. Last time i phoned them (this summer), they were of the opinion that i could not enter NZ in any way shape or form......
Wrong, there are many routes, i just need that job offer, I think they were trying to sell services to OZ. :no

Keep posting and reading this forum, also visit NZIS web site. You will learn alot and may find your answer. Also ask Emmigtration Group for a current price list of services.
Good luck
John.

Jo. All I will say at this point, is be very wary if an agent asks for money up front. Read, read and read again, any small print in contracts. I know it sounds obvious, but I know from personal experience that you can get caught out.

Hi Jo,

We're using an agent, and have found them to be very useful and informative. It looks as if there is a quite a few different organisations that offer a service, from helping with the initial application to finding you a job and new home. Initially we were going to go for the whole caboodle, but decided we'd like to find our own jobs and search for our own home. As previously mentioned, I'm finding this site to be an invaluable source, but it's a comfort to know that we're getting guidance and support from an agent.

:cheers

Hi,

We are going for a Business Visa and thought an agent would benefit our case. I had several quotes and found some to be a complete rip off. Being in business myself i tend to find companies that spend fortunes on advertising are quite often the most expensive and not always the best service.
The last time i was in NZ i visited an agent and was very impressed. The quote was 4 times cheaper than the most expensive qoute in the Uk. They keep me updated on a regular basis and the fact they are in NZ is beneficial as my application is dealt with at the Wellington branch.

You are welcome to email me at parky41@hotmail.com or PM me as i do not get to this web site to often.

Good luck
