There are 3 main reasons why we are going to NZ:

A change of lifestyle
Cost of affordable housing
I am very dis-satisfied with how the NHS is being run in the uk

Those nurses from the uk that have moved to NZ I have spoken to, are more than happy with the difference.

When I start working I will give regular feedback on how its going, on this forum.

We are looking to go to NZ Christchurch area in March 08 (timing based on sons education) and i am currently in the process of getting my NZ registration sorted out. Any tips would be gratefully recieved i am currently trying to decide the time tanble of how things go like for example when to puit in EOI as it seems to take about 5 months. Did you nurses out there apply for a post before you put in your EOI and if so have they promised to keep the post open or did you apply get yr blue stickers and then get a job. I am a neonatal nurse with 20 years experience so hjope that they want me!!! as i to am sick of the nhs ....

best wishes Clare

Complete your EOI and apply for work either direct to the hospitals or through an agency. (Don't do both it gets confusing as hospitals will not accept your cv if it has been rejected by them from an agency or vice versa) Your EOI depending on your allocated points could be picked up as quick as two weeks.
When you get a response from your EOI and are invited to apply (ITA) it is quite straight forward as the form is mostly completed for you, you just need to fill in the blanks. You will also at this point need to book and get your medicals completed before you send in your ITA. Agencies may not put you forward for vacancies until you submit your ITA.
:uhoh
Once your ITA is submitted, you will be allocated a case officer or placed in the pool depending on if you have a job offer or not. if you have a job offer you may be issued with your blue sticker within the month. The whole process could take between four to eight months depending on finding a job and speed in which you complete your paperwork.
;)
At present I have a job offer and am waiting for the contract to be delivered so it can be forwarded to NZ immigration so they can finalise my application for permenant residency. With any luck we should be in Christchurch either late june or very early july 2007.

:nice1

hope this helps
