Hello All
Please could anyone advise how we go about getting police checks done? We have had EOI selected and would like to make a start with the next step. Thanx all. Ciao:roll

This is the webpage I used to order a police check from the FBI.

I got the fingerprints taken by a local sheriff's office for US$10.

Just go to your local UK county police's website then download the form.

Are you in the US or UK? or elsewhere?
If you need police checks from the US, here's a tip:
A person from FBI fingerprint division suggested to me that I send my FBI check in a courier envelope (so it can be tracked by me) and to put a pre-addressed (to me) and paid return courier envelope inside so that when they send me my results, I will get them faster (and I could see when it had been mailed by checking the tracking number online).
This saved me about 8 working days total on mailing time.
I got mine in a month. Online it says it could take up to 4 months! For faster service, I included a certified check (not personal!) for the fees rather than fill out the credit card info.

Thank you all for wonderful advice. We are in the UK. We don't have to get police checks for kids do we? I'm presuming not. Seem to be spending lots of time on this forum asking what seem stupid questions. Wondering what I used to do with my time

All I did was ring our local police station who in turn gave me a number to ring and I asked all my questions and ordered our forms from there.
Don't forget to say that you want the checks for immigration purposes - apparently there are different types IE for social workers/care workers etc.
Please don't ask me for the number - it was nearly 2 years ago.........my goodness, doesn't time fly !

be careful that you do not get the enhanced CRB form required for working with children. This is not what you require for immigration. The form is a data protection act form

I used my enhanced CRB form and it was fine - it covers all crimes. Took longer than a normal police check to arrive though.

hi Belmont Babes, What you do is go to your local Police station and fill out a form known as DATA ACCESS. you fill it in with all your details + showing them an ID to verify who you are + a recent Utility bill or Bank statement to verify your address. If your kids are above 17 then you will have to have theirs done too. It costs £10 per application. It will take upto 40 days to get your clearance done. You will have to mention all your previous address in the last 10 years.

Sounds like you got selected the same time as us (last week in Feb).
Each force does their own police check forms. They have to be sent into the local force, which then sends them down to central london.
Its upto your force as to whether the form is available online, but if not you collect it from the station. You only need the immigration section not the enhanced CRB.
Might be worth putting a location in your profile so that people responding give you the correct info for your country.
Best of luck.
