Lot's of nice scenery...:D
We thought it was very one dimensional and not very practical.
What did everyone else think?

yep - nice scenery but that's about it
guy seemed a bit of a prat, but I definately think they need a new camera man (one that can focus and hold the camera still whilst pointing at the thing he's supposed to be filming:uhoh )
It was very backpacker / outdoor adventury based, which is fine, but I don't think it gave a lot of info bout NZ really.
However, as previously said, I'm glued to anything (inc. this site!) that's to do with New Zealand!
Steve - the above link to the bbc website just about covers what was shown - if you read that you;ll know as much as anyone that watched it!

That guy went to some of my favourite bits of NZ - but it was very glossed over and he hardly said anything.
Lawrence did a much better job of creating atmosphere and giving information at Petra.
And for the record, if anyone does want to go to the gliding capital of NZ it's O-mara-ma not O-ma-rama. :laugh

I was really disappointed that they only showed SI. Was looking forward to seeing a little more. Beautiful scenery though. Would love to woof if I wasn't too old with two children in tow.

I'm not sure when it starts (possibly Friday this week) but Castaway is returning with a new series. This time instead of being set on one of remote islands off the coast of Scotland it's set in New Zealand. I've never seen the programme so don't know how much scenery you'll see but it might be worth at least one viewing.

From what I've heard they're filming on Great Barrier Island which is the big island off the tip of the Coromandel. Not been up that way for a very long time, so not sure how far offshore it is - but one thing's for certain, it should have weather a bit nicer than Taransay!

My eldest is such an indoor type, loves the computer and TV and I had to prise him away from the PC to watch Holiday last night.
Watching it he suddenly piped up - that glider looks great, can we do that when we are there. OMG. I am scared of heights but I was thinking to myself I wouldn't mind having a go at that. Maybe there is hope for him in NZ

Don't worry, Maori takes a little time to get your head around I was just a little cross that considering he had locals around to check the pronounciation before he shot the piece-to-camera he didn't practise first :)

So do I, but I've got a horrible feeling this is going to be another BB. First thing - no children or families are involved, it's basically adults - & probably young adults who just want an excuse to get on the telly. Hmm, sound familiar, anyone?

BBC does it again - appealing to the populist masive for more tabloid TV. They've got a stripper on there, thats enough for me. The original series was great, apart from Ben Foggle getting a job out of it, remember when they kicked of that manc builder and the press pack that ensued?
Anyway I have applied for a job on it and will promise that if I get it I will make sure everything is in focus and pointed at what it's supposed to be pointed at. :laugh

Just read in the paper, that the great barrier island Castaway NZ rights have been bought by TVNZ with no agreed date for showing.
The first BBC screening was supposed to be in the UK yesterday - did anyone back in blighty see it?
