I told our elderly next door neighbours about our planned move yesterday and they were really upset, there was a real look of sadness on the lady's face and her eyes filled up which then made me start off. It was a very strange feeling, I just feel really down about the whole thing now, we live in a lovely house, in a lovely village with lovely neighbours and unlike many others, our move has been a hard decision for us to come to. I think I feel down because they are the first people we have told who have shown real sadness and it makes you realise how important good friends and neighbours are. Even our families didn't look sad when we told them - we're so lucky they've been really supportive and although we know they're sad deep down (well - we think they are!) they've all been very positive in front of us so to see a sad reaction has hit me hard. Our neighbours just love our little girl so I know they'll really miss her and they were even talking about selling up themselves now!

Its a shame, good neighbours are hard to find and it sounds like they will miss you. I told our neighbours a couple of weeks ago and they have been really supportive. What they will be like nearer to the time a don't know. I think they were a bit apprehensive about us renting out our house but one couple have offered to keep an eye on things for us.

I think it's easy to overlook the relationships we make with our neighbours. We are on good if not cosy terms with ours - don't know much about them but I do know that they've always looked out for us, and our house when we've been away. I feel sure that I'll miss them when we're in NZ.

Lovely story Cardy - I'm sure you'll get many more visitors,

Andrea
