We are moving to CHCH in January and are homeschooling our children. Here are a few links that would be of interest to anybody wanting to homeschool in NZ. Note that you will need an exemption to do so. This is all new to us since here in British Columbia, the only requirement is to register your child with a school (public or independent) within the province in British Columbia. And that's it!

The system here sounds more like the UK. There you had to approach and discuss the setup etc with the local education authority and they come out and visit you periodically. Which I think is fair enough as it is both to protect and make sure the child has the learning that it has a right to.
