Hi guys,

We fly in 2wks and spoke with someone who recently flew with BA/Quantas and they said they got a little goody bag which had flight socks in it. We are flying with Singapore and wondered if they did the same?

Thanks Amanda xx

Amanda are you talking flight socks to stop DVT, or are we talking about socks similar to bed socks, cos if you are talking about the latter then thats what you get. Nice purple in colour.

yep you get " foot covers " not DVT socks..these need to be the right size, too smzll or big and they dont work( If too small they can cause a DVT I belive)

You can get DVT sock at the chemist

Hi I read somewhere that kids can't get DVT as they are too fidgety. You only get it when you sit still for too long.

Might need to check with the pharmaist.

I am packing for our trip and wondering if I need to take toothbrushes and toothpaste on plane (and for transit hotel in Singapore) or do they provide you with anything like that?

Need to know how much as only allowed 100ml of liquid/gel/paste with new regs and have to put it all in clear bag etc. So if its provided on the plane it gives me more of my allowance for other things (mascara, deodrants, lotions etc)

Also - anyone thats stayed in transit hotel... for same reasons as above, can you tell me if rooms provide shampoo, shower gel etc.

Many thanks
packing Vicki :D

Singapore Airlines provide you with toothbrushes/toothpaste. Transit hotel does provide shampoo and also over body wash, come shampoo.

You aren't allowed anymore than a 100ml bottle of whatever item, not 100ml of mixed items.

I think I'm a bit confused here
I was planning on taking a few small travel size items eg tube of hand cream, calpol sachets etc and making sure that in total they weren't over 100ml - have I got this wrong then?

each item needs to be less than 100ml. the bottle needs to be less than 100ml in size, not the contents (ie you can't have a 200ml bottle thats half full). in total they can be more than 100ml but they all need to fit into one transparent resealable bag thats no more than 20cm by 20cm.

Remember that is one resealable bag per ticket holder, so you can get quite a few bits and pieces through if there are a few of you travelling. And remember you can buy whatever you like to take on the plane, once you have passed through the checking area, so you could just buy small items from one of the chemists. Make sure you leave plenty of time though, it was very very busy when we went through!! :nice1

Nope that's right. As long as the item is 100ml or under you ok. You just have to ensure that they are in the clear plastic bags (find it on the Manchester airport website). The toothbrushes/Colgate toothpaste on the flight is enough to get you by for a 1 day stopover in Singy. Pack all your after-shaves/perfumes in the main hold luggage. You really shouldn't make the mistake of taking loads of stuff with you on the flight as hand luggage.

Good luck Vicky and gang - btw the natty purple socks are great on the plane. ;)
