Hi
And thanks Tigerlily for pointing me in the right direction! I originally posted this in the wrong section: this is my first post - hello everyone; I'm in the process of slogging up that hill slowly- ITA needs to be in by the end of March!
This is a query for all you guys who have had blood results that are slightly out of whack... hope someone can help...
Have received my medical results and my blood tests show an elevated platelet count. This I am sure is related to a recent rip roaring chest infection (treated by GP - so it's on official records). The panel Dr has just ticked the box that says "abnormal findings" and written "no cliniacl evidence of (something I can't read!!!!)" I know from lurking that people advise that you get a consultant opinion to submit with the ITA to speed the process up. How do you go about getting a consultant - does it need to be an NZ immigration approved one - like the panel doctors?

I had an abnormality on my meds too (won't go into it here, though nothing serious) but we sent off the ITA regardless, worried that we may have a problem.

They never got back to me on it and all I can assume is that if a medical query come up, they take advice on it.

Why I say that is that 2 years prior to sending our ITA, my hubby had a minor op that we mentioned to the panel doctor, but then thought no more about it. NZIS however, contacted us wanting to know more about it and when we supplied them with the information they required they submitted it to their doctors for a report.

So, if I were you, I'd send off the ITA and see what happens.

We have had results on both our WP and PR that where JUST outside the range. Our DR sent us to a specitist just to get confirmation that it wasnt serious.....Dr said that they would proberbly ask for this anyway and it would speed the process up. On both occassions the results from the specialist went back to the panal Dr who included it in the medical.

Have to say that on both occasion the reports where sent to Wellington for the Imm Drs there just to give it the once over.....and time goes on!

Zardell - may I ask when you emigrated? - I know they've got more stringent recently.

During my immigration medical a few blood abnormalities were discovered, just a few weeks before I planned to ship out from the UK to NZ.

Saw my Doctor, rang a few NHS heamatologists, then decided to book a private appointment at the Nuffield due to concerns about time, in terms of contacting the Nuffield, getting all the tests done etc and back to the Immigration medical Doctor - took about two weeks and several hundred quid. No major faults found.

Medical results where then shipped on to Immigration as part of the ITA.

In the same week, on a visit to my UK Dentist, it was mouth cancer week, so he inisted getting a white patch on my gum tested, another run around and a waste of time, the Consultant could not understand why my dentist had sent me. I had told my dentist I was very busy trying to escape/emigrate etc and could do without any more stress.

A very stressful time - all part of the fun of emigrating :wah

Sorry - only just seen this. We emigrated in October 2006, so we've been here 5 months.

PR was granted in July 2006.
