Hi all: I read a thread once which contained a link to some kind of form by MAF for box contents descriptions etc. If you know it, can you post it again? I'm not finding it by search on this site, nor on the MAF site...

Do you mean by post? I have sent stuff via the post down to NZ, all I had to do was fill in the details on the customs form on the box...

We'll be shipping around 15 boxes via UPakWeShip (we think). I think there is a form which says 'box number such and such contains so and so' so that MAF has a good idea what boxes to pull aside and look at. At least, that is what I understood.

Yep , Not sure but in that case, I would assume you need to fill out the customs forms etc but I would have thought that the packer/shipper would have those.

If you are having problems e-mail MAF. I was on to them all the time and they where really good and helpful..and e-mailed back ASAP

I typed my own shipping list. it basically said what you posted. I just numbered the boxes and underneath listed what was in each. I kept a copy and gave a couple of copies to the shipping agent.

This thread (http://www.emigratenz.org/forum/showthread.php?t=5976) contains a link to the MAF / Customs form which can help you determine what questionable items should be packed in a common box since MAF will want to examine them, and what you will have to declare, so you can write the items down as you pack instead of trying to remember once all the boxes are packed and gone.

Thanks for that! Wow...scary.

I will probably have only 2 to 3 cubic meters of boxes, totalling 15 in all. I plan to pack it all and drop it off at the warehouse myself, and (hopefully) pick it up at the port in Christchurch (or Lyttelton maybe).

I don't want the nightmare so many have had with shippers etcetera...so will compose fairly detailed shipping lists for each box, and number each box myself. Hopefully "Books" is a good enough description for a box of exclusively books!

Can someone break down a solution for me? What should I request or require from my shipping company in advance to cover me against the extortion? As I am shipping only a small amount and intending to collect from the port, does anyone else here have experience with that?
