Greetings, I was wondering if someone could answer a question for me.

I'm seriously thinking of moving over to NZ for atleast a few years. What I was thinking about was going over on a holiday visa then looking for a job offer so I can apply for a work permit for atleast 2 years. How easy would this be, and how willing are employers to go the extra step to fill out the required paper work and such?

Heres some information about myself and work experience, so you can judge how easy/hard it might be for myself to find a offer.

B.S. Degree in Computer information systems, with a minor in Business Management.

A CCNA(cisco certfication)

2 years as a shift manager of a ISP working in the operations department. doing basic troubleshooting and repair of Wide area networks.

3 years doing local area network admin and desktop/server software support.

3.5 years of doing tech support for end users trying to configure routers/ cable modems and dialup to the internet.

8+ years building and repairing PC's and software troubleshooting

Knowledgable in Linux/Unix (not admin level thou), also was a lotus notes admin but that was awhile ago so I forgot most of that.

Just looking for some input, on if I should come or stay in the states. Thanks all in advance for answering.

If its just you I'd say go for it, you don't mention family or partner so if that is the case what have you got to lose. Having said that the computor Industry isn't exactly booming over here. Worse case scenario you don't get a job but you will have had a good look at NZ for future reference.

Hi Gratto

Have a look at some of my earlier posts in the old forum. From Dave's experience I would strongly recommend going on a visit visa and looking for a job while there. If you can, try and line up some interviews for when you arrive by e-mailing companies with your CV (resume) and telling them when you will be there and would they be happy to interview you.

Good luck - Sandra
