Steve's reccy proved fruitful with getting a job outside Welly.Has had a look around the areas for starting our new life.Haven't a rental yet but have organised a PO Box for our mail to be forwarded to from the UK. THANK YOU FORUM for that important advice. All we need now is a rental. Um . . . . we have a dog. I'm putting feelers out now for assistance or does anyone know of anything coming up around Paraparamaru,Waikene ish area please? The house sale is still on course for an end of April departure but if push comes to shove, Steve will have to go out first & organise it. OMG it's really happening!

Excellent news :raebanana
I can't say whats about around this way, also depends on your budget, but I have given you a link to the Trade me site which will give you an indication of both private and estate agent rentals
http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Property/RegionListings.aspx?search=1&mcat=0350-5748-4233-&sidebar=1&132=FLAT&selected135=&selected136=&134=15&135=&29=&122=0&122=0&59=0&59=0
Not sure about the pet rule either, but generally think that cats may be more acceptable than dogs.
Whats your timescale for being here?
Good Luck

Vicki - don't panic - you can sort it when you get here - we found a rental within 2 days of arriving here & it took cats & dogs. Get yourself a motel booked for the first week and look at your leisure (your dog should follow you on but if it gets here same time as you a lot of motels will take dogs if they have a dog crate) - Whatever you do don't agree to rent a property from overseas!!!! You can't smell damp or see a motorway in front of the house on the internet!!!!!! Most rentals will want to tie you in for a period & if you make a mistake it won't be very nice (especially if you have to sit out winter in it!!!).
Good luck & congratulations!!! (Paraparaumu/Waikanae - lovely! Paraparaumu beach great for dog-walking!!)

Oh thank you very much my forum friends re: rentals. Sarah, your advice is good & timely because I was considering doing something over the net. I'll hold fire & take it as it comes. Steve arrived home yesterday & can't wait to return. He agrees with you that Paraparamauru ,Waikenae is a lovely area & the rascal didn't take any photos because he wants me to be surprised. Chancy or what? He has bought me some lovely pau shell earrings though so he's learning.I'll continue to browse via some of the threads posted on the best site on the net (this forum) to keep an eye on what's about & prices. Out of interest, I suppose we'll be looking at $250 - $350 pw.
It's good to have friends I've yet to meet
