Notice yesterday at christchurch meet there is majority of us around 30-45 years old...My OH and I wondering if it is same for whole of us..
(I actually think about 'grumpy old man' syndrome forced men to make bizzare decision at 30-45 :laugh )

Yes we're late thirties, early forties. We hope our moving out isn't just a symptom of mid-life crisis. It would have been cheaper just to buy a sports car.

:laugh Wouldn't it though? Spent all that money and all we have to show for it is our same ol' stuff, just relocated a bit south ;)
We're 38/43. When we were deciding whether to move, I was wishing I was doing it when I was 10 years younger & talked to a couple of my co-workers in their 50's about it. They both encouraged me to go saying
1. You'll never be any younger and in ten years you'll wonder why you didn't go when you could have
2. There's NEVER a perfect time to go - the one coworker and his wife wanted to move to hawaii but didn't because of her elderly parents & an elderly dog . . . so he said it's 10 years on and of course now they have another dog getting older and now his parents starting to age so they wished they'd just done it. Made a big impression on me.

Sophia, it's funny - I was thinking about this in the car coming back from the supermarket today. I told you how old I was, but I never asked you (always feel a bit rude asking people their age!!). I'm 38 and hubby is 41. We were 37 and 40 when we emigrated (life begins at 40, eh?)

I am 26 and OH is 31. You don't have to be middle aged to want to move to a better way of life. Got to say though the age of people emmigrating is a little older than I thought it would be. :)

I'm 40, OH 43. Have to say it probably was a mid-life crisis with me - we've talked about doing this for 15 years and always found reasons why we shouldn't - I hit 40 and suddenly wanted to put myself/ourselves first - so we are!

I think 40 is about the age when you finally figure out what's going on, and don't care too much what anyone else thinks. Pity it takes so long.
And shifting your lifestyle is what keeps you young. The day you settle is the day you get old. At least that's what I keep telling myself :uhoh

Richard and I are both 25 and we have no children yet. He is originally from NZ so our reasons for moving may be different from others in the forum. If my OH wasn't from NZ there is no way I'd be considering emigrating at this point in my life.

I'm 41, Matt is a very young 50. William will be 9 (just) and Martha 6. Bones and body feel as if they're ancient, inside I feel about 17ish most of the time.
However, since starting on this NZ emigration 'adventure' I've noticed my first grey hairs... boo hoo!
