HI
Does anyone have a list or know of where to find one about the people/institutions attending the expo in london at the end of the month.
Has anyone been before is it worth a trip?

Have a read through the thread below - this was a discussion following the Expo in London in October. Within the thread I have listed details of the companies represented there.

Thanks for that pinkpiggy good bit of info, to be honest i don't expect to get a job offer from the expo or even a positive vibe. I think you have to be in NZ to get good feedback then they know your serious. :)

I know some people who have had job offers from the expo. I am going with my CV (a couple of printed copies and electronic format). I am not really expecting a job offer but it wont stop me trying.
We are making a weekend out of it, got rid of boys for a couple of nights, booked a hotel and a show so can't wait

I went to one (if you mean the one in Earl's Court?) and found it useless. Unless you have a date when you can start work, the job agencies are most likely to refer you to their websites (if you have a date, I believe they do sit down with you and can actually register you).
The queues for everything were really long, so get there early in order to get to everything you want to ask. Someone else said the immigration stand was helpful, so that might be worth a try, though that had the longest queue...
All in all, it told me nothing that the net (and even more, this forum :)) couldn't have told me without standing in line for 45 min each time.
If you are further along in the process, I think it could be helpful, but for me, it wasn't worth it. Oh, it was also sooo much smaller than I thought!

We went about 2.5 years ago when my OH had a job offer from NZ & we were just applying for PR - it was very useful to speak to NZIS (infact invaluable for us since we were going to apply for WTR instead but the case worker we spoke to told us to go for PR we would get it very quickly!)
I'd recommend getting there first thing - you can get through it in an hour quite easily but be one of the first in there & one of the first out too since the queues get silly later on.

we went to both the october and march ones before coming over here. one thing to be aware of is they are not quite the same - the march one was a lot smaller and we found it to be a bit rubbish in comparison to the october one. october in london and manchester and is very well established and attracts a lot of recruiters. march used to be just london (its now edinburgh too but thats a recent development) and so many of the recruiters that could only do one trip a year would just go to the october one.
still - if you want to move to southland then the march expo is definitely the place to be

I went to the October one last year when we were just starting to think about emigrating. I hadn't really looked anywhere else so I hadn't discovered this forum or anything else. I therefore found the Expo to be very useful, and I count it as one of the major reasons behind our decision to emigrate. I got a positive vibe from the IT companies present, and the advice from Immigration was pretty helpful.
I contrast this with the Aussie expo which was a week or two later (at that stage we hadn't decided on our destination) which was totally useless - everyone just referred me to their websites. Paying £10 to be told that seemed a waste of money.
I guess if you've done a fair amount of research on here and elsewhere, you might not find the Expo all that useful. However, if you're just information gathering or want to talk to some real Kiwis, it's worth a shot.
I'll be going to the March one, I think.
Cheers,
Martin

Thansk for the responses guys, I think we are going to go as we will probably already have an appoitment to attend so its worth a visit just waiting for conformation of the appointment.
Does anyone know if there are going to be science recruiters or companys/ individuals connected to the science industry there?
My other half is a chemist so wants to meet potential recruiters. Have anything like this been there in the past or is it mainly IT orientated?
CHeers guys have a good one. :)
