Long-time listener, first-time caller.

I've been viewing the forums since the beginning of the year, when my wife and I got this strange notion that we wanted to emigrate to New Zealand.

A bit of background: my wife and I both work(ed) for the IT department of the same company, but the senior management decided in their mighty wisdom that they wanted to outsource IT and offshore our jobs. We were a bit upset at first, but rather than get all negative we decided to turn it into a positive and use the opportunity to follow a dream. So we're going to New Zealand!

I submitted our EOI at the end of January with bonus points for IT skills and my degree in IT (130 pts in total). The EOI was selected on 31st Jan and we received our ITA on 9th March. I've just got to get the NZQA and the medical sorted and then I can submit that.

We're going out to NZ for a recce trip next week which we're very excited about.

Are you going to try and see some job agencies on your recce trip? I'm sure you know if you manage to obtain a job offer your ITA will be 'fast tracked'.

We're about 90% sure that we'll be settling in Wellington. We've arranged to meet a very nice lady from Positively Wellington Business when we get there. She has already forwarded our details on to a few agencies who we will also be contacting when we arrive.

Wellington looks like a beautiful city, and it seems to have plenty of IT jobs which is good.
