Don't forget to get your flues and chimneys swept folks ;), especially if you've recently moved in and you aren't sure when they were last done. Best to get them done yearly imho. Cold snaps like this catch people out and it's when chimney fires are most prevalent.
And remember, a reputable sweep (whether doing woodburners or open fires) can provide you with a receipt which you need to keep for insurance as it is also classed as a "certificate of fitness". The sweep is required to keep a record of the receipt so that insurance companies can cross check. Some insurance companies insist on a cert of insurance before they will issue insurance, but we haven't had a problem with this in either of our places.
Anyway, after having had experience of a chimney fire I thought I'd remind you all ;)
Nag over!
