Hi - this is maybe a silly question but I haven't quite been able to figure this out: We recently moved to NZ, and pretty soon I'll have to go see a gynecologist for the yearly checkup and renewing my birth control prescription - can I just go select someone from the phonebook, or would such a visit be considered seeing a specialist which requires referral? And, would anything be different for me because I'm not a resident yet (other than cost)? Last, how long in advance would I have to make an appointment (coming from the US, I'm prepared for the worst :uhoh )
Thank you! Oh, and if anyone can recommend someone in Wellington by any chance, that would be most appreciated. thx! :smile

your local G.P. should be able to sort all that out for you Sibylle
alternatively - my hubby fancies himself as an amateur gynacologist....well he says he's got the rubber gloves ready anyway! And he reckons he can do it really cheap - in fact for free!

It's spelt GYNAECOLOGIST, not that I profess any particular skills in that area, apart from a keen amateur interest (it's a male thing) but I can spell it......which is a start if you are trying to find one in a telephone directory!!!! :laugh :laugh

Hi Karl,
I think the original post was in American rather than English! ;)
I have quite a few friends in the US, they all seem quite bright but I never have figured out why they can't seem to spell properly!! :laugh :laugh :laugh
See this thread in the lounge for some funnies about US, including spelling:

Oh man, I am not even an American!
In school in Germany they taught us Britisch English, but in the 8 years that I lived in the US I completely adapted American spelling, only to now have to re-learn the British version, not to mention the Kiwi-flavour (see! flavoUr! Hey, I'm trying! ;) ) of pronunciation. :uhoh
As Homer Simpson says: "Bah, who needs English? I'm never going to England" :laugh
