well in exactly seven days we are flying via Singapore to glorious NZ for our three week reccie - to say I am a little excited would be an undestatement, I am :raebanana :raebanana
And to give an extra glow to my cheeks and big extra shine on our trip - we have this week accepted an offer on my husbands business so providing that all goes through ok - we've only a house to sell and then we can return to NZ on a permanent basis later this year :)
The business sale has been the pivotal point in our emmigration plan so far, so everyone please keep their fingers crossed it goes through fine and we can be on our way. The buyer has mentioned 20th May as intended takeover date, which is about a month after we get back to UK and ample time to sort out paperwork and get things in order for sale etc. We plan to put house on market when we return to UK and hopefully see a prompt sale on that too. We have a family wedding in June but I want kids to see the school year to July out anyway so I think we'd stay (in rental if necessary) bit longer, do some sightseeing in Uk before we leave, visit friends accross country over summer hols etc then maybe go NZ direction around September time.
So our reccie trip really can be a getting to find job contacts type trip after all. I emailed one company about work for OH and they've asked for more info and possible informal chat whilst we're over so I'm chuffed to bits about that kind of positive response from the only company I've been in touch with so far.
its all looking so good at the moment I'm a little afraid the bubble will burst - but for now I'm being POSITIVE POSITIVE and rather, just a little, tinsy bit happy :D

Excellent news Vicky and I suspect probably a great relief too (selling the business I mean).
Yes we're going to be a travelling family of five in a camper with one very excited boy having his 11th birthday in New Zealand
We had a similar thing when we went on our hols to NZ last year - 8 year old had his birthday partly in Singapore/mid air/Sydney and OH had his birthday in Christchurch. Not sure who was the most excited. ;)

Just a quickie from Singapore airport (which is totally HUGE and fab!)
Flight very good - so happy I decided to go with Singapore air in the end - remembering back to last October when we almost booked with Malaysia air at 499 pounds each!
caught some sleep in transit hotel, flying out in couple of hours. VERY hot in the rooftop gardens here! Will make sure we pack our swimming cossies for return stop over!
see you soon New Zealand!!!

Good luck with the second leg of your journey. The roof garden brings back many a good memory. Can see us now looking out onto the Jumbo that was to bring us here.

Just a quickie - logging on from Top 10 campsite in napier - weather absolutely gorgeous - nice to see some sun at last, we've just been through a few VERY wet days in coromandel/Bay of Plenty / rotorua and Taupo (they've had flooding up in Northland I believe) Anyway today the sky is blue and its my sons 11th birthday so happy times :)
Well, despite weather, we've had a great time so far and all love it. cannot believe the trees and landscapes, especially in Coromandel and the Taupo to Hawkes Bay Road. Its like jurassic park - keep expecting big dinosaurs to come loping through trees! Roads are good, Sam and the boys love all the big logging trucks! Haven't seen many sheep yet! more surprised by trees and trucks :roll
We went of Driving creek Railway in Coromandel (bizarre but well worth trip - what a place!)The boys & Sam went Zorbing in Rotorua (they loved it), we fished for Prawns in hot water pools near Taupo (fab!) and lots of general sightseeing things.
off to NZ aquarium in Napier for birthday boy later today then heading off Hastings direction in our camper. Due to arrive Wellington by Tues / Wed but other than that we're free as a bird!
Steve - sorry didn't get to your area, we were trying to outrun the rain but it seemed to be following us! Hope you are all well :nice1
Andy-Dee - don't know why we never saw you on the plane when we were on for 13 hrs - time seemed to fly by!
Taking loads of piccies to post when we return
well - I'll go hook the kids out of the pool and dry them off
see ya later :raebanana
