I'm called Jeanette, and my OH is called David. We have a 14 year old son called David too.
Just found out today that we have been accepted to emigrate to New Zealand :yes
Bit scarey as OH has to find a job(electrician) and move within 3 months. Can't see us sorting everything out by then though :wah so he will probably have to move over first.
Never been to New Zealand or know anyone there, so hope to find new friends on here before we come, especially someone that could help my son make the big move.
To be honest hasn't really sunk in yet, but i'm sure we will be fine. :nice1, but feel free to give us any help, advice etc you think we will need.
Love Jeanette xx

Welcome to our world Jeanette. Feel free to fire away your questions as you will more than likely get an answer. As for jobs try www.wardchandler.co.nz (http://www.wardchandler.co.nz) as they are always on the lookout for sparks, but this also depends on where your location is going to be as this company is in Hamilton.

There is a meet of northwesterners at the muscrat manor in Warrington in April where you can meet others who are in the middle of plans to move to NZ and you are welcome to come along

Hello Jeanette,
Mark is in the same situation and he will have 6 months to find a job. He will then have to be registered as an electrician so we can stay longer. We are leaving next week to Christchurch.
Good luck with everything and I will write more when I learn more about the process :nice1

Hiya Lesley, thanks for the welcome.
Sorry what is the BOP?
**whispers I'm 43 and OH is 44** Son turned 14 in January, is your daughter looking forward to the move?
OH is going to phone tomorrow and check how long he has got before he has to get over there, he thinks it is 3 months, as he is going with a residency to work/work permit, so we will definately be panicking as have done nothing re the actual emigrating!!!! All very scarey stuff ha ha !!!!

Hi Scouseparks.
My hubby is an Electrician ,we came with a WTR visa .
To get PR he had to get a job and stay with it for 3 months then you can apply for the PR visa .
He got his Provisional licence and has just passed his exams and is waiting for his Full Licence to be issued .
Best wishes ,

Jeanette can you be a little more forthcoming with the above quote from yourself. You mention that OH has to be in NZ within the next 3 months....why? Does he have a formal job offer from anybody? cos i think you may be getting your wires crossed with the process. May i butt in and say that if you get PR then your OH will have to stay with the company who the offer comes from for the said 3 months, but should OH get an offer on WTR, then he will have to stay for 2 years. If he doesn't have any offer at all then there isn't the rush that you think you have in front of you.

Cheers for the info Kim.
OH phoned up yesterday, and has been told he has to be in New Zealand within 6-7 months, and have found work within 9 months, so if he gets there in 7 months that means two months, so not as bad as we thought if it was the 3 months :) i've confused myself now :laugh
I'll get him to come on here soon and explain things better!!!!
Thanks for all the replies, we appreciate them, and all the good information we have been given.
